A Change for the Better

Let me begin with Friday night; my cousin, sister and I went to Shepherd's House to go support our friend Berlinda who was ministering the Word for the first time during their Youth Service. Her message was about Lot's wife. How that one look back can be the look that kills us. It was an awesome word; especially for me sister to hear. Today was even more amazing because of the fact that my sister rededicated her life to Christ. It feels good to see her moving in the right direction and going down the path that God has for her. I'm excited to see what she will be doing in the future.

Are You Ready To Serve?

Today I stayed home for morning service because my cousin stayed home with my aunt as well. I was talking to one of my younger brothers in Christ on Facebook because he mentioned in his status that he was lonely. I told him if you really look at it your not. Of course he didn’t agree to I shared with him what the Lord revealed to me: relationships, friendship & marriage are all ministries. You serve and are served; if you feel you are ready to be in a relationship or get married ask yourself if you are ready to minister everyday while you’re with them. When he looked at it like that he said he wasn’t ready so I told him to ask God to show you where you lack. I realize that everyone wants to be in a relationship so that they have someone.

I Can Rest Easy

So Berlinda didn’t tell me anything horrible like fire & brimstone will fall on me or anything like that, lol. She just told me that God has so much planned for me and that I will know what its like to commune with Him! I will not lie; I am actually anxious and excited. I had to miss out on intercessory prayer because my aunt’s arthritis was acting up really bad and my cousin needed help with her. Keep her in prayer; I believe God is going to heal her. Any who; I ended up frying up some steaks with her and talking to her to keep her mind off of the pain. I feel that the only way you can help someone is to serve them. To assist them in the time of need; when they need an extra hand. Don’t you agree? Yesterday we went to the Christian Church of Jamaica (a Spanish speaking church) for their English service during their Youth Campaign. It was a blessing! Lately a lot of churches have been talking to their Youths about turning on their lights. It’s time for us to burn bright and burn unashamed.

Share Your Story

We decided to change up our usual Friday Night Youth Service and had a guest speaker from a church we fellowship with: Sheperd's House Open Bible Church. The topic was faith. He began to share his testimony about how he waited and went through for his mate. The funny thing is that I knew his story because we became friends in the midst of it, but for him to share his story with a group of people that didn't know him that well encouraged me. It seems these days the Lord is going about pairing up the Youth in the old school/biblical way. The Lord has been sending prophecies, dreams, word confirmation, etc. to show us who HE has for us. The thing is there's a ministry in each marriage, but that is how it's supposed to be. I remember being told that marriage itself is a ministry and it also represents the relationship between Christ and His bride: the church. When I think about it from that point it totally blows my mind! It's just another way to represent Christ to the world. Isn't that amazing? Your future spouse/ or current one is a living example....but I digress, I remember a while back that I told the Youth that it's our job to share our stories. We don't know who we are helping when we talk about where we've been and what we've been through.

It's Not About Us

Today I had intercessory prayer at church. I am the only one under 25 that regularly attends it. Sad, I know but true. I was drawn to it over a year ago; I wanted to be the one to intercede on behalf of my family, love ones, friends, the lost, etc. I have been attending it for a while and haven't been called upon to lead a prayer until today. I was asked to lead a prayer on behalf of the youth ( I started sweating bullets, I am still conquering the in front of a crowd thing, lol). I am one of the "youth leaders" because for some reason the youth come to me with the things they won't go to anyone else about. I think its because I am honest about everything with them and I won't judge them. So when I led the prayer I asked God to teach us and show us how to love them ALL and show us how to reach them. Not just the ones who listen and attend Sunday School and Youth Service faithfully, but those who live in an unsaved household, those who come in our doors with tattoos, wild color hair, piercings, those who are hurt and only know how to use anger to deal with their pain. I joined the youth ministry over a year ago as the one of the new youth secretary. It started out as an administrative role but slowly became more. The girls began to see me about questions and problems and the boys would come to me to get a big sister point of view. One of the elderly women told me that God is calling me to work with them because I have been where they have been and I want to help them and bring them to where they need to be. I never looked at it like that before. I always looked at it from the angle of why should they be lost if all they need is a hug, a shoulder to cry on, or even someone to take them shopping? Why can't I be the one to do it? One of my older girlfriends told me that ministry takes on all forms but the definition is the same: ministry is serving others. I hope that I can serve others everyday. Even if it's just when I give my seat on the train/bus for an elderly person or cover my co-workers lunch because they're short on funds, etc. That being said, ask yourself "Am I trying to serve others daily?".

Saturdays & Jane Austen

I had a wonderful morning. I watched Persuasion (the Sally Hawkins & Rupert Penry Jones version) and Pride & Prejudice (the Keira Knightley & Matthew MacFadyen version) as a marathon. One after the other. One word: AMAZING! I am a total Jane Austen groupie. I had choir rehearsal this evening; we learned a new song which I can't remember (lol). Tonight was the Youth dinner. It was wonderful. The youth of the church were the servers and everything was served via candle light. It was such a nice night to be surrounded by fellow saints in Christ. It made me realized that we should do things like on a regular basis. Being Christians doesn't mean that we have to be boring. We get to live knowing that we received the most wonderful gift ever: eternal life! Everyday for me feels like a celebration; a day to enjoy the life that has been given to me. Why shouldn't we? Anyone care to join me?
