She Bangs, She Bangs ...

Oh baby when she moves, she moves ... hopefully you can tell from my little intro that the votes were UNANIMOUS.  Bangs it was and bangs it is!  Well, sort of ... So I went to T&G on my way home from work yesterday.  And told them I wanted to cut bangs.  When you say "cut bangs" does it or does it not imply that you want to be able to actually TELL a difference from having grown out bangs and having ones that are, oh I don't know, say on your forehead?  I would think so, but maybe that's preposterous.  Don't get me wrong the girl was super sweet and did a good job (on the tiny bit she did) but HELLO timid.  This is the problem, I either get someone that is so afraid to be "bang offensive" that they're terrified to cut them (seriously, she grabbed my then long bangs, made a snip to make them a little less long bangs and then said "how's that, short enough?" ... um, no ...) OR I get the snip-happy guy (no, this literally happened, I will post a picture for proof) where he makes me look like a 3 year old child that somehow snuck the scissors away from her mom and then 10 minutes later emerges from her room and says "Look mommy, I cut, I cut!"  See exhibit A for proof of such occurance ...

Now let me explain before you all go saying "That's not that bad, you look cute!"  This is after several practice rounds of "fixing the disaster".  When I left the day of my appointment, the dude, who was their highest level cutter ... that doesn't sound right, but you know what I mean ... ROLL BRUSHED those puppies.  They were bouncing like one of those bouncy balls you get for $0.25 at the front of the grocery store after you bounce it too hard and accidentally lose control of it.  Seriously.  People were looking at me like "Oh my gosh I'm so sorry ..."  I swear when I went to pay the lady at the front desk LITERALLY looked at me like "Is she going to pay for that, because I wouldn't fight her if she doesn't".  My "colorist" told me that she actually thought I'd never come back.  But OH, I did.  I guess I'm just a glutton for punishment.

So, needless to say, I went home yesterday and (much to my fear and nervousness) took a pair of scissors to them myself ... and they STILL don't look like real bangs!  So, I've decided that when I go get my hair colored the next time I'm going to ask for bangs.  Again.  And see if they decide to grant me my wish.  Here are pics of my bangs (or lack there-of) ...

Well hello orange iPhone pictures, so nice of you to be ... well, orange.

I know.  Super anti-climatic.  Hopefully one day I'll have REAL bangs that I can show you all, but for now, it looks like I'm stuck sportin' the banglets ...

Thank you for all your votes!  I do have a confession to make.  I was going to make the chop no matter what the vote was.  But I SO appreciate all your taking time give me your sweet opinions (and comments)!  Oh, and if you didn't see my husband's comment please go look.  Hilarious.  He came home and said "Were you serious?  Did you really pay $100 for conditioner?"  Isn't he special ... my sweet little gullible mister.  I guess my humor isn't apparent enough.  I'm not sure it's possible for me to be any more sarcastic.  But I will sure rise to the challenge.  For his sake of course.

Happy Thursday loves, it's ALMOST Friday!!!

Bang Bang Pow!

I know, I know it's "Boom Boom Pow" but the subject here is bangs.  And that I want some.  And if you all think I should get some.  I'm really leaning towards yes but, since my husband is super sweet and says he loves my hair NO MATTER WHAT (right sugar, right ...) I need the solicited help of my sweet blog friends' opinions.  Here is a little help to get your opinionated juices flowing.  Keep in mind some of these I have my lovely long flowing hair, one of which went WILD and caused me to cut it all off.  Dang wild hair.  I'm working on that though.  Go figure, no matter how much I try and convince (i.e. pulling on/yanking on/hanging weights, from the ends) it it WON'T GROW ANY FASTER!  AND I'm super de DUPER tan (me, and the tanning bed, we had a relationship) AND about 8 to 10ish pounds thinner (which, like the hair growing thing, I'm working on, but it as well won't jump off no matter how much I try to convince it to, shoot even running my hiney off training for a 1/2 marathon didn't convince it to ... what?  no?  I'm not bitter?)  Now that I've got all the disclaimers out there, here we go, we'll start w/ the bangs pics ...

(I was holding a friend's drink, I promise)

AND, no bangs ...

(And way darker hair, this is when I decided I was a brunette)

Okay now, HELP.  What do you think?  To have bangs or not to have bangs, THAT is the question ... And do you want to know what the coolest thing about ALL this is?  IF you all say bangs (or I decide on my own no matter what anyone says ... I'm just sayin' kids, this is a possibility, ask my husband) if you walk into any Toni & Guy, and say you need your bangs cut, they will do it FOR FREE!  Can you believe it?  I didn't think ANYTHING came for free at that place ... for example ...

Awesome Head Massager:  "Do you want a special, scalp-tingling conditioner while we wash your hair?"
Me:  "Why yes, yes I do, thank you!"

45 minutes later at the register:

Really trendy dressed lady:  "That will be $852 please."
Me:  "WHAT?!?!  Why!?!?!"

Really trendy dressed lady:  "Well ma'am you got the scalp-tingling conditioner.  It's an extra $100."
Me:  "WHAT THE ... ?  What's the rest of the $652 for!?!"

Really trendy dressed lady:  "Oh didn't your colorist tell you?  She moved up a level, she's now the highest level because she killed all the bad guys including Bowser and Bowser, Jr. and rescued Princess Toadstool."
Me:  "Oh ... okay."

Really trendy dressed lady:  "Would you like to leave a tip?"
Me:  (eyes wide open, mouth dropped, trying to figure out how I'm going to explain this all to my husband ... "Um, sure ... (emptying my wallet and handing the whole thing to her)")

I've decided in the future I'm just going to walk in, with my hands in the air, wallet and purse open and say "Take anything you want but please don't hurt me (or my highlights) and call my husband to explain."

But in all seriousness, Dallas ladies if you have ANY suggestions on someone to go to for highlights that won't ROB ME BLIND, I'd greatly appreciate it.  The girl I used to go to, who was really good, all be it kind of strange and quirky, no longer is doing hair.  Or is, but I have no idea where.  Because she used to work at T&G and then started at a new place for like, 5 minutes, and now doesn't want to drive that far ... ?  And even so, she's too expensive.  And (shoot) I hope she doesn't read my blog ... ah, well.  All that is to say, $100 for partial highlights, when they send you out the door looking like a wet rat or like someone just stuffed your head in the toliet and gave you a swirly, is not okay ... I love Toni & Guy, but I can't get anyone that does it cheaper than $80 for a partial, which, after tip and them randomly putting in an extra color or two that I just HAD to have and they just neglected to tell me while doing so, ends up close to or over $100.  All suggestions are welcome ladies!  Except the one to not color my hair, that suggestion, is unwelcome here.  Happy "Middle of the Week" Day loves!

Best New Blog Award!

I was given my VERY FIRST blog award from Jen of A Girl in Pearls & A Boy With Toys (how cute is that name by the way?)  Thanks lovely!  Her blog is precious - click on over and check it out.  SO, here is my task to accept this lovely award ...

1. To accept the award, you must post it on your blog with the name of the person who has granted you the award, and a link to their blog.
2. Pass the award on to approximately 15 other blogs that you recently discovered, and think are great!
3. Contact the bloggers to let them know they have been chosen for this award.

SO, here are the names of some blogs I've recently discovered.  And that I heart:

Miss Kriss @ ... well Miss Kriss :)

Now, I know this may not mean much from someone who doesn't have 5,462 followers, and is a huge nerd, and is pretty sure you are all just humoring me with your sweet adorable comments, but just know that someone out there is daily interested in your going's on.  And it makes that someone (me, geez why so ambiguous Kate?) smile.  And if makes you as happy as it makes me when people comment and/or follow my own blog, then it's well worth me giving you the award :0)  And yes, I know that's only 12.  I'm no accountant (like my mister) but I can count.  The problem is the other blogs I read are all people I KNOW and this is all about NEW (well new to me) blogs of people that I maybe don't PHYSICALLY know, but I feel like I've gotten to know through their blogs.  I hope this still makes me eligable for the award (Jen?) ... So ladies, each of you that I awarded, go and share the love with 15 (or 12 if you're uncool like me) other lovely blogs you heart and make someone else's day like miss Jen made mine!

Okay I HAVE to go get in bed, or at least head to my room because I hear my poor puppy whining and crying because he's having a bad dream.  BREAK my heart.  Time to go wake up my fur baby!

Sweet P ...

My BFF and MOH (maid of honor) has the most adorable little girl.  Ever.  She's my favorite.  I thought I'd share such cuteness with you all.  I'm not going to say her name, just for privacy reasons so we'll just call her Sweet P.  Here's some pictures of my bestie and me when we were registering for Sweet P.  Before she graced us with her prescence that is.

Sidenote:  I heart this pic.  I plan (whenever the time comes) to take one just like it with her hands on MY belly and frame them side by side.  Too cute.  And here, are some pictures with Sweet P now that she's made her debut into the world ...

Aren't they just the prettiest little snow bunnies?

And here, are some of just the little punkin' P herself.  If you can't tell I went Picnik nuts on all these ... Seriously, I may need an intervention ...

The next set are a result of me, my MOH and Sweet P going to Chili's the other night for dinner.  For a "Girl's Night Out" if you will.  P really needed to get away.  She leads quite the stressful life you know ... Here is the dialogue that ensued ...

(P.S. My nickname since I was little has been Katearoo, my dad's always called me that.  My MOH calls me Roo, thus I am, Auntie Roo)

Is she NOT the cutest thing EVER!?!?  My MOH won't let me have her.  I really don't get why not?  I think it's quite rude I totally understand ... I guess ...

I hope this little muffin's face has brightened your day like it always does mine!  Auntie Roo loves you Sweet P! (and you too MOH, even if you won't let me have P)  I can't wait until you have a best friend or future husband (sorry to all you moms of baby boys, this is an arranged marriage, it's a done deal) to take A-DORABLE pictures with!

(See I told you I'd make up for the disgusting-ness that was yesterday's post)

Ew.

So, remember how I said (and my tan) to almost every picture on my post last night?  Well, it's because (like I said at the end of that post) it's no longer me (and my tan) anymore.  It's just "do you think that girl maybe used to be tan and now she's just trying to?"  Yes.  Yes I am.  I've been using bronzer like it's about to be discontinued, WHICH like I said below, produces less than desired results (i.e. blonde "Snookie" from Jersey Shore).  And also, that which is the killer of all tans is happening.  I am ...

Yes, it's true.  My skin is actually SHEDDING my tan, so as to get rid of it faster.  Thanks skin.  Jerk.  My only saving grace is (prepare to be grossed out) I. LOVE. PEELING.  I love to peel things.  It's a disgusting habit, yes I know.  But I can't help it.  I was that kid that poured a whole bottle of glue on my hands within 30 minutes, JUST so I could let it dry and peel it off.  I do it with everything.  It's the reason I have to have fake nails on, so I don't PEEL OFF MY CUTICLES.  Last night we had burgers and let me just tell you how much fun I had peeling the dang onion.  I literally had to tell myself "Kate, stop, you eventually have to cut the thing and if it's the size of a golf ball, it's not going to be easy to do or, more importantly, useful for to eat."  So let me bring it back to my skin.  It's peeling.  And I will probably peel it all off before it even has a chance to do so itself.  I'm kinda psychotic (I like this word, can you tell?) about it ... I've gone so far as, to when there is peeling skin on the back of my shoulder, stood in front of the bathroom mirror, turned with my head looking over my shoulder, trying to get to my peeling-ness, eventually starting to see stars because this is not an angle you can hold your head in for long.  Without getting light-headed.  It's kinda ridiculous.  I wish it was as beautiful of a thing as the second picture (seriously can someone come and do that somewhere in my house ... I don't know where, but somewhere, because I love it ...) but alas, it's not.  It's gross.  And I'm very aware that I may have lost half, if not all of my followers, but hey people, we all have flaws and one of mine is that I love to peel things.  Ack.  Even I think it's gross and I'm talking about myself.  Sorry if I just ruined every meal you're going to have this week.  Don't worry, next post I'll talk about butterflies or fun headbands or pearls.  But for today I'm peeling.  And I hope you all still love me.  I guess we'll see ... IF you come back tomorrow.  Don't worry I promise to be more girly and dainty.  And less ... well, gross.

Happy New Year!!!!!

I know, I know. I absolutely suck! I have been so busy the past couple of months with prepping for our Christmas program, Bible School, etc. etc. etc. Lol. I am so excited for this year; I mean really excited. My best friends (Stace and Lizzy) are engaged! (Stace and Mike git enagaged Jan. 7, 2010 and Lizzy and Robert Thanksgiving). This translates to more bridesmaids dresses I will attend and more wedding showers, blah, blah, blah, blah. Lol. This year is new; the decade is new; it’s a chance for a clean slate for so many people. I can say my life will never be the same. I have a new blog up on onsugar.com http://musingsofaquarterlife.onsugar.com This is for my fashion musings since this blog has become for more of my God based musings, lol. Not that there is anything at all wrong with that! I will continually blog here; but if you want to read my random blogging on hotties, fashion, Jane Austen (lol) etc, you know where to go now. But seriously, I pray that you this year will be a year that we all move to higher heights and deeper depths in Christ. May everyone be blessed.
