Update:  Matt is having brain surgery on Friday to remove the mass they found.  They are calling it a tumor but are not sure if it's malignant or benign.  Please continue to pray wisdom over the doctors and peace and healing over Matt and his sweet family.  Thank you for your prayers.

Merry Christmas From My Office!

First and foremost, before I get to my office, I just returned from having the infamous FIVE cavities filled and, as much as I would love to milk it, it wasn't that bad!  My new dentist is FANTASTIC, quick and funny.  All good qualities in a dentist if I do say so myself.  When I left this morning for my 7:30 appointment and realized it was snowing I was ECSTATIC ... until I realized I only grabbed a "fashiony" not so much warm scarf and NO coat!  What?  I'm a Texan, I don't think about coats!  We only need them for 6 days out of the year down here!  What do you expect?  I then arrived at the dentist and had a cleaning BEFORE my five cavities were filled (double whammy, thanks for that surprise) and, of course all the TV's that are there to take your mind off the horrendous noises coming from your mouth were not working, because of the beautiful snow.  The hygenist then proceeded to walk me back to the "special cavity room" after my cleaning and asked if I would like some happy gas.  I'm having five cavities filled.  Do you really have to ask?  The doc was a bit late and she went ahead and started me on the happy gas and let me tell you, by the time he got there he could've said "Okay, I'm going to go ahead and cut your leg off." and I probably would've nodded, smiled and given the thumbs up as "happy" as I was feeling.  However, he did say "I'm not sure how much numbing you're going to need, so just raise your left hand if anything starts to hurt" ... my immediate thought was, "I'm sorry, did you say you're not going to numb me?" (happy gas all the sudden isn't enough anymore) "Did they tell you I have FIVE cavitites?" "Did YOU have some happy gas this morning before making this decision?" "If you're worried about having to give me a shot, don't, I like the sound of that MUCH more than the sound of that tool drilling into the root of my tooth!"  You can imagine my alarm.  Thankfully he was right, I only had to hold my hand up twice and it was really preventative before it got REALLY bad.  Alas, I'm still alive, not numb and/or drooling and am able to be at work and be productive the rest of the day.  And speaking of work, let's get back to the task at hand ... here's a little glimpse of my office all Christmas'ed up!

My teal tree (if you're a new reader I am OBSESSED with teal, just ask my hubs ... or my family, or my friends or my cell phone cover ... he had to reel it in when I wanted to make our house a teal decorating explosion) with all my girly ornaments.  This is here because it would NOT fly in my house ...

And all my girly ornaments.  I heart them.

And more ...

Oh, and some more ...

And maybe just one more ...

And here is a comprehensive picture of my whole office ...

And last, Merry Christmas from Mobi (as in Moby Dick - I like it spelled w/ "i") my sweet little betta fish, he is very friendly and swims up to me to say hi anytime I get up or sit down ...

PS - I know he looks rough, that's why I bought him.  I saved him from Petco where he was in the bottom of a disgusting cup that hadn't been cleaned in ages.  He was clear white and looked the worst of all the bettas and I just KNEW no one would buy him because he wasn't the prettiest color.  BUT, to my surprise, when I got him in clean water, took care of him and fed him, he turned red!  Sweet boy.

And that's a little Merry Christmas from my office!  I hope you have a fantastic day in this winter wonderland-like weather!!!

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like ...

I don't have to finish that sentence.  You know.  CHRISTMAS!!!  Last night I started the decorating for Christmas, and ALMOST got it done mind you, but I got distracted along the way ... How the Grinch Stole Christmas (the original cartoon, I like that one so much better) AND Christmas Vacation were on and, although you would think they would add to the decorating experience (which they absolutely did) they also deterred me from working to my ... utmost ... potential.  I would stop, laugh, watch, get some hot chocolate, start again, play with my dog.  Let's just say all the men on my dad's side of the family have ADD and some even ADHD.  I'm pretty sure there's a little strand of it running through me.  Just ask my husband, he'll probably confirm that suspicion.  The tree is still naked, I got it up, but it was 12:30 by the time it made it's appearance and I decided that was good enough until tonight.  I just have the tree decorating and the garland attaching to my stair banisters and then the rest is up to my mister in the light hanging department.  I will have to take a picture when he's done, I have been blessed with a highly perfectionist, type A, hard working husband, which in some cases is a little hard to handle (just like my type B, flighty, fly by the seat of my pantsness is I'm SURE hard to handle) but in many cases, as in the case of having perfect amazing Christmas lights, it's fantastic.  So here's a little peek at my house at Christmas, the MOST wonderful time of the year ...

My entry table ...

The ADORABLE fa la la snowman I got at Chi Omega Christmas this year!

My very small Santa collection ...

My dining room table ...

My little fuzzy reindeer I got LAST year at a holiday craft bazaar ...

My stocking that my step mom NEEDLEPOINTED for me herself!  I LOVED Madame Alexander dolls growing up and yes my full name is Kathryn ...

The smaller shelf hanging on my wall.  I just heart glitter.  It's all over my house.  My mister, on the other hand, does NOT heart glitter ...

Our mantle with the hand-me-down garland that my mom gave me when she got new garland, MAN I love my mom's hand-me-downs ...

And last but not least, our nakie tree.  I am thinking the angel will be retired this year.  My mom has some ribbon and I'm going to try and make a bow tree topper with strands of ribbon coming down from the top.  We'll see how that turns out ...

Merry merry!  I just love my house at Christmas.  I love it to begin with, but it just seems so much cozyier (it's not a word, I know.) with the soft glow of lights and smell of Christmas-scented candles.  I will post an updated picture of the tree, once she's done.  Now I'm ready for my Christmas Girl's Night!  More on that in another post, if you want to come make sure you send me your email so I can add you to the Evite!

Last reminder - my GIVEAWAY closes at NOON!  You have 30 minutes to post your email address, become a follower of my blog and put a post on your blog about my giveaway!  I will announce the winner tonight!  Good luck!!!

World AIDS Day

I don’t know where to begin or how to address a topic as huge as this. I lost someone very dear to me to this virus. But AIDS didn’t kill him, his decisions did. AIDS is a disease that supports my whole “Your decisions don’t just effect you” mentality. When you don’t think or heed to the Holy Spirit, you open yourself up to sooo much trouble. We are supposed to seek God first and He will direct our paths. Many people will tell you that bad things happen to them because they decided to do their own thing. But it’s not just you who will be affected: your family, love ones, strangers etc. will be effected by that one decision you made. But as Christians, we can make a difference. We can show those who are sick that there’s a Healer in the house; He came to heal your inflictions spiritually, emotionally and physically. So on this day, let’s raise awareness that no matter who you are or what disease you are suffering from; there’s a Savior, a Doctor, a Friend that sticks closer than a Brother, a Way Maker, a Father, a Lover of our soul who can will love them, heal them and provide for them. We are not too far that He can’t reach us. Be blessed.

My Church Pastor ...

I have a fun "I decorated my house for Christmas" post all ready a t'ed up to go, but first I wanted to take the time to ask if you, in your community groups, Bible studies, families, etc., would pray for our Pastor, Matt Chandler.  I attend the Village Church and have been a covenant member there for about 3 years now.  On Thursday (Thanksgiving) morning, Matt had a seizure while at home and was taken to the hospital.  He was released the same day.  He returned to the doctor to have several tests run and in doing so they found a small mass on his frontal lobe of his brain.  They are meeting with a neurosurgeon today to discuss further results.  Please pray for Matt, for his wife Lauren and for their three beautiful children, Audrey, Reed and Nora, their new baby girl.  Pray peace over their family, pray healing over Matt and pray wisdom over the doctors and specialists.  Thank you for praying for my Pastor.  If you'd like more information click here or here.  Thank you for your prayers.
