Jane Austen, I Apologize on Behalf of Humanity

Someone always tries to ruin a good thing, but in Jane Austen's case a great thing. I love Jane Austen's novels, they are amazing and well written. If you go to Barnes and Noble's website you will find over 2,565 books that are in relation to Miss Austen.....and this is where my rant begins. Now I know people can't leave well enough alone but this is ridiculous. First it started out with sequels: Mr. Darcy Takes a Wife, Captain Wentworth's Diary, etc. etc. etc. I haven't read all of them but the sequel I did read was.....umm....shall we say I won't be discussing it in Bible School, lol. There are also books that tie in with Jane Austen like Confessions of a Jane Austen Addict, Me & Mr. Darcy, Austenland, etc. etc, etc. Those aren't so bad. But I draw the line at Pride & Prejudice & Zombies, Sense & Sensibility & Sea Monsters, Emma and the Werewolves and Pride & Prejudice & Zombie: Dawn of the Dreadfuls. Not to mention that they have graphic novels to go with these horrid titles! I am going to form a protest! A book burning if need be!!!!!!! If this continues, I don't know what will happen. What if these titles become movies?!!!? God forbid!!!! I am over-reacting? I mean, Jane Austen was an awesome write that inspired some of our great writers today. To take a novel and degrade it in such a way.....words can't even describe how I feel. Maybe my sugar is low and I am being cranky; I don't know......

Prayer and Fast Day 4- Keep Me Lord

My phone is starting to act up………I know, don’t say it! I feel that this is a hindrance in my relationship with God. The phone needs to take a serious back seat. Sigh. My friend that would like to be my “boyfriend” and believe me, I use that word very loosely isn’t speaking to me as much. You know what’s so funny; he barely talked to me this whole fast. Its only shows to me who belongs in my life and who doesn’t. I was reading a snippet from this book called Fasting- by Jentezen Franklin in Barnes and Noble; and I can’t wait to buy it! He says when you fast you open yourself up to hear from God! How amazing is that! I think that makes withstanding and seeking Him so worth it!

Shopping!

Today was the best day ever! You know why? I got to go SHOPPING! Well for my niece more than me but it was a great experience because I haven't done it in so long. I bought my niece the cutest khaki outfit from the GAP with a suede fringe bag (adorable!), a Vtech Laptop, a dress up play shoes (so she won't wear mine anymore, lol). I was doing well until I passed Aldo, they had a pair of black patent leather cut-out lace up oxfords that screamed my name. So.....I bought them. And since I had new shoes, I needed new clothes to go with it (it's only right. lol): I bought 2 pairs of skinny trouser pants from H&M (black and grey), a navy boyfriend button down cardigan, a v-neck rose color sweater from Banana Republic and a light blue with a satin trim neck t-shirt from Banana Republic as well, a short black trench coat (very Katharine Hepburn) and a Calvin Klein white tunic. I was very good, lol. That was all I bought for myself (and argyle socks too, lol). I also bought the new Parallel Bible (KJV/Amplified) and French Lessons on CD (to brush up my accent) from Barnes & Noble. I am such a dork because I considered that a treat to myself. After I was done, I had too many bags and my back was hurting me so bad. Imagine how much fun I had getting on a packed NYC train with all those packages. SMH. Let me start wrapping my niece's birthday presents before I fall asleep.

Location, Location, Location!

I love living in New York. Really I do; but when there are things like Blizzard (a Christian youth retreat) in Ohio, Erynn Mangum book signing in Texas, and Christian rock concerts everywhere but New York; I wonder sometimes if New York is the best city to be a young Christian? All these amazing Christian events I read about and love to be apart of are in other states that would require me to fly to get there (mind you, I am afraid of heights). The only event that is in New York is Kingdom Bound, and that's Upstate New York! Oh the humanity! I would love to see Salvador, Above the Golden State (sigh), Leeland (I LOVE THEM!) in concert but it would mean I would have to travel to see them......
Now that I have gotten that off my chest. I am so looking forward to Laura Jensen Walker's new book "Turning the Paige". Its the second book in the "Getaway Girls" series. I absolutely loved the first book "Daring Chloe", it was hilarious. I hope it gives you a follow up to Chloe because I am eager to know what happened to her. Anywho, I am such a dork. I called Barnes and Noble (I am a proud member)and had them order a copy for me (Christian Chick-Lit isn't carried much in bookstores) as soon as the book was released. I was on alibris.com (The Godsend of discount book sites!) and found out that I ordered over 40 books from October 2007 and January 2009! That doesn't count the books I bought from Barnes and Noble. I knew something was up when my books and fashion magazines started to take over my room, lol. I won't complain, because when it comes down to it I wouldn't resell them. I love reading and rereading books. I like that these books entertain me and speak to my spirit (not to mention many of the characters are as crazy as me); so what more can a girl ask for? Well Starbucks, Mr.Darcy, and Haagen-Daz Dulce de Leche ice cream (lol).
