Vegas Day Three

I woke up with a sore throat, headache and stuffy nose. Oh, had I failed to mention that on the airplane ride down the lady who sat beside me was coughing up a lung the entire time, and not even trying to cough into her arm or the corner? Yeah, I saw this one coming. There is such a thing as cold etiquette, people! Keep your germs to yourself!

We decided to hit the strip, walk around and check out a bunch of hotels. This was fun and all, but after a point all I wanted to do was go back to the room and nap... so I did.

I woke up a few hours later feeling refreshed. I hopped in the shower and started getting ready for the night. I assumed the girls would be back soon... but I waited, and waited and waited. Apparently they were busy walking around yelling "DAY DRUNK" and taking pictures with man-strippers. Do I sound bitter? Ok, I was jealous, I admit it. No day drunk for me.

We had dinner at PF Chang's that night and it was surprisingly good. It was more "real" Chinese-foody than I expected.

After dinner we hopped into a cab and headed to Voodoo Lounge at the Rio. The cab ride was one of the funniest things that happened the whole week. My "DTMF" girlfriend sat in the front with our Arabic driver and proceeded to grill him about how to say different things in his language. Unfortunately, he'd only been in the country 3 weeks or so and it was a bit of a challenge. Most of the things she was asking weren't exactly things you'd use on a daily basis as a cabbie. The main thing she was trying to learn to say was "Do you want to have sex with me?" She kept trying to explain it in different ways to get him to understand, finally blurting out: "What would you say if I wanted to ask you to have sex with me?" Without skipping a beat he turned to her and stated: "I would say... No problem!" I almost peed myself laughing.

Voodoo Lounge is super cool because it's way up on the 51st floor and the view is amazing. However, the other patrons left a little bit to be desired. It must have been classic rock night or something, because the dance floor was full of 45-year-old men. We grabbed a drink and headed to the edge of the patio that overlooked the VIP section. We were watching a super-drunk man dancing at what seemed to be a work party. He started to walk over to say hi to us, and two women stopped him. We couldn't overhear the conversation, but there was definitely some finger wagging.

We left Voodoo and headed across the street to The Palms, which has 2 clubs. We stopped in at Ghost first. It had a really nice set up, and like Voodoo had a large patio with a great view. It even had areas of the floor that were see-thru, just like in the CN Tower. However, just like its name, Ghost was empty. (Except for some little Asian boys from Burnaby that we met. Small world.)

Once again we bailed and headed to our final desination: Moon. I will describe our time at Moon as a drunk dance-a-thon shit-show. We somehow ended up in a breakdance circle pretending we were in Step Up 3D. I remember at some point a guy jumped on the floor and dove through my legs and then started doing the worm... And I distinctly remember someone taping us on his iPhone and hoping I wasn't going to end up on You Tube. So far so good!

My feet were killing me so I talked a guy into letting us chill with him and his friends at their table... where I proceeded to jump barefoot onto the speaker and start dancing. The bouncer walked over and I was waiting for him to tell me to get the hell down, and he only told me to put my shoes back on. Vegas is so much cooler than Vancouver! Day 3 was a success!

We Have a Big Boy on Our Hands ...

Today was C's 4 mo. well visit (which included shots, boo) and let's just say our little man is a BIG man!

His stats:

Weight:  15 lbs 3 oz
Height:  25 in

That's in the 70/75th percentile.  Seriously, are we sure this our kid?  The Mister and I are munchkins.  Maybe we have an professional basketball player on our hands?  Nah ...

We definately have a player on our hands.  And by player, I mean with toys of course.

2 Months Natural

I really didn't want to do this post. Mainly because I have been in a serious like/dislike relationship with my hair. After I posted the hair products I use; I did a complete 180. I decided to use only natural products......let me tell you, it has not been fun. I have been trying to figure out what works and what doesn't so it has been....interesting. That being said, I love the fact that my golden brown colour is starting to show at the roots (I miss my natural hair colour), and I dislike how my hair looks horrible when its lacking moisture. These two pics are from the retreat in the Poconos. It was cold and dry; which I forgot that I was supposed to take special care of my hair (smh, I walked with no shampoo or conditioner so it looked bad).

The products that I'm currently using, or trying to use:
Shampoo:
  • Aubrey Organics Island Naturals Replenishing Shampoo: (Say that 3x fast, lol). Jury is still out on this. I do like it, but I don't shampoo that much so I'm not sure yet.
  • Carol's Daughter Herbal Shampoo: So far, so good.
Conditioner:
  • Aubrey Organics Island Naturals Replenishing Conditioner
  • Carol's Daughter Tui Hair Smoothie
Deep Conditioners/Treatments:
  • Bramhi Herbal Powder w/ Olive Oil
  • Bentonite Clay Hair Mask
  • ACV (Apple Cider Vingear) Wash
Hair Dress:
  • Shea Moisture Curl Enchancing Smoothie: I love how thick it is!
  • Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Strengthening Elixir: I use it every morning.
  • Jane Carter Nourish and Shine: It is really thick; I don't use it too much because the smell worries me. Its really strong!
  • Jane Carter Scalp Nourishing Serum: I apply it to my sides, I'm not sure about it wokring yet.
  • Lush R&B (Revive & Balance) Hair Moisturizer: Smells a little weird but gives my hair the well deserved moisture it needs.
  • Carol's Daughter Mimosa Hair Honey: This is my go to hair grease.
Oils:
  • Coconut Oil
  • Olive Oil
  • Jamaican Castor Oil
Etc:
  • Curls Passion Fruit Control Paste: OMGosh!! This product is highly addictive! I absolutely love it. At first I was a little put off by the product (because at first it looks grey on your hair) but after you rub it in, the definition looks amazing. Con: too much product means more shampoo than cowashes.
  • Carol's Daughter Hair Milk: I just started to use it, but I like it so far.
  • Carol's Daughter Tui Leave-In Conditioner: It came as a trio set with the shampoo and conditioner. I love the way it smells!

What I'm Learning:
  • Shrinkage, Shrinkage, Shrinkage!!!!!
  • My hair is chronically dry! (I hope that's a word, lol)
  • I have coils and very few curls.
  • Moisture is key for curl defintion (otherwise the coils/curls/kinks look like mini-dreads!)
  • Brahmi is addictive (It defines my curls)
  • ACV (Apple Cider Vingear) Wash makes my hair more manageable.
  • I have to wash, condition, treat and detangle once a week because I like to use product daily.
I can't really review any of the products too much yet because I just started using most of them this past month. By month 3, I will give you my feedback for sure. Be blessed.

Anti-Bullying Flash Mob

Way to go Vancouver! Students from David Lloyd George Elementary and Sir Winston Churchill Secondary got together in January to do an anti-bullying flash mob at Oakridge Centre. Amazing! It even ended up on Perez!

Take a look!

What I'm Loving Wednesday ...

Today I decided to link up and play ...

I'm loving the way this purchase has made my life so much easier ...

Our sink takes 542 minutes for the hot water to warm up.  No seriously, it takes forever.  So this little contraption was warmly welcomed into our home with open arms.  And it was only $30!  If you're looking for one we found this at Baby's R' Us.  A MUST buy in my opinion.

I'm loving that I've officially reached 15 lbs (45 if you count the 30 that melted off after I got home with baby) and that in another 15 lbs or so I can begin thinking about buying these adorable little (and I do mean little) items ...

{these are tummy flattening, just in case the little present that my sweet boy left me with in the form of a tummy pouch isn't gone by then}

{and if it is we'll focus on my usual problem area, hips and thighs, with these cute Juicy Couture suits.}

{and these are just because.  I'm kinda loving one-piece suits right now.}

{OBSESSED with the fringe!}

{oh the ruffles.  or as my Silly and I call them, fluffles.}
all the above found here.

I'm loving that my son slept until 8:15 this morning, giving momma time to do some of this blog post.

And of COURSE I'm loving ...

What are YOU loving this Wednesday?  Go link up and play along!

RIP: Jane Russell

She showed us that while gentleman may prefer blondes, they marry burnettes, lol. Another classic gone; but will not be forgotten. RIP.
