Fabulous New Blog, Change in Weekend Plans and Other Such Updates ...

I must say I LOVE LOVE LOVE my new blog look.  Fabulous K really is what her name states.  FABULOUS!  I just told her I love teal, gave her some pictures and she came up with this fantastic representation of me!  Now I want to blog even more than I did before.  Calm down Kate ... 2 posts a day, every day is a little ... obsessive.  All that is to say, SHOUT OUT to Fabulous K for fabulousing up my blog!  We will do mexican food and margs very soon to show my appreciation ;0)

Well, last night my hubs came home from his week in Orlando not feeling well.  He's got a sore throat and sounds like death, but thankfully he doesn't have a fever.  We are, however, going to go ahead and cancel our Baylor Homecoming weekend.  Good news is, there will be one next year ... and the year after ... and so on and so forth.  I wish all you bears that ARE going a fun and safe green and gold weekend.  Sic 'em Bears!

Speaking of last night ... I went to play this game, Keno with my hilarious friend Amanda (if you want to laugh your hiney off - check out her blog out, it's listed in my stalks, they're the Ventura's - another SHOUT OUT).  I had no idea what Keno was.  It is basically Bingo (hence why I yelled Kengo when I won the first time) with pictures of different cards (like from a deck of cards) and one person flips over cards in an actual deck of cards and calls out the name of the card.  You then put a bean on your card, if you have the card they called out.  Everyone brings a gift so if you win Keno then you pick a gift and then second round is for the gift stealing.  It's like White Elephant Bingo.  So, I started out like a champ, winning TWO gifts the first round.  And then we had wonderful pumpkin cake and everything in the second round was downhill from there.  I ended up having BOTH my gifts stolen.  What kind of people steal gifts from the new girl?  I mean come on ... RUDE.  I'm AM only kidding ... kind of.  :0)  We did, however have some WONDERFUL appetizers.  I brought these chive and garlic crackers which were SO good but NOT so good for the breathage.  Seriously.  I can still taste them today.  And yes I brushed my teeth.  Twice.  Also the hostess made these fantastically dangerous Candy Corn Martinis.  Most people know my obsession with Candy Corns ... and there were pumpkin pie flavored Candy Corns IN the martinis.  They were oh so yummy and ... a LITTLE ... strong.  And by a little I mean A LOT.  All in all it was super fun, the house was all Halloween themed up (which you know I loved) and I got to see sweet little Harrison who at some point, I'm going to bring a purse big enough to put him in and, when his parents are playing some version of Rock Band or Guitar Hero, steal him.  Love me some babies.

I will leave you with a picture of the martinis we had, because I always think there should be SOME sort of picture in a post ...

A deeb a deeb a deeb th-th-th-that's all folks!

OH and P.S. - ABC Family's "13 Nights of Halloween" have started!  I LOVE this special, every night they play a different "scary" kids movie.  Movies like Beetlejuice, Casper (with Christina Ricci, LOVE it!) Haunted Mansion and Hocus Pocus!  So tune in at 7pm all the way up until Halloween. - Okay now that really IS all folks!

Grrr GAGA

After having amazing tickets for the Kanye West/Lady Gaga show and having it be cancelled I was pretty disappointed. The shining light to break me out of my funk was to find out that Lady Gaga will still be touring without Kanye, but at a different venue.

Thinking that tickets go on sale this Saturday I decided to check out the Ticketmaster website to see how much they are.

I searched for the show, and it took me to the area to purchase tickets. To my surprise tickets were already on sale! I put in my info, got some tickets and went to purchase them, only to see that when I went to enter the info for my VISA they were only taking American Express. This was a surprise to me, as I've purchased countless other tickets before with it.

I called the Ticketmaster number and found out that tickets were only on sale at this point for American Express cardholders.

At this point I'm pissed. Fine, they have some sort of presale privileges, but they shouldn't let someone get 3/4 through buying tickets before discovering this. They should have a note that says this before you can order tickets, or you should have to enter a presale code like normal to even get to that point.

Not happy!

Wendy's Wedding

This summer I attended my first traditional Chinese wedding. Or any Chinese wedding, but whatever!

The ceremony was in Port Moody and I thought I was going to be late. I booked it there and it was ok because all my other girlfriends were late too. The ceremony was a little long, including the entire family going up to take puctures, but at least it was in English for the most part. We also got little appies in the lobby there and cute little pics that the bride and groom had taken in Hong Kong.

After that we headed to Milestones for some brunch. I heart Milestone's brunch. Breakfast burrito mmmm. Drinking in the afternoon mmmm mmmm. I had a bit of a buzz on. It was nice.

The reception was at Kirin seafood restaurant. And boy, was it an eye opener. Upon seeing the menu I was like "this is going to be INTERESTING." The husband of one of the ladies even went over to Quiznos since he didn't like seafood. There were things like abalone, shark fin soup, suckling pig, and endless other weird concoctions that I can't remember at this point.

The wedding favours were really cute. There were either a Chinese bride and groom cartoon keychain set, or a bride and groom as little piggies baby spoon set. A-DOR-A-BLE.

I got this pic from Google, but we had a lot of these courses. We had the top left to start, which included some yummy pork and some octopus or squid or something. We also had the one on the right of that which was really good... crab meat wrapped around a crab claw and deep fried. We had the noodles on the bottom left too which were good, and the shark fin soup, third from the right at the top.

The wedding was also different, because the bride changed outfits probably four times, and we played shower-type games at the wedding. In one all the single ladies had to hold out our hands to see if the groom could guess whose hand was his brides. He guessed wrong. In another game I won a prize... a set of little heart shaped sugar bowls.

The wedding stopped right after dinner though. No dancing, no nothing. That was kinda disappointing. I like to get my groove on at a wedding. So I went home and went to bed.

I Am SO Proud of Myself!

Well you may notice an updated look to my blog.  I decided while waiting for my ULTRA cuteness I would see what I could do on my own.  Miss Fabulous is a VERY busy girl you know and is giving me a great deal ;0) so I thought I'd go ahead and play around with it.  Nothing close to what Fabulous K could do, but I think it looks pretty darn cute for now!  There IS a lot of teal (well a version of it), anytime there is an excess of teal I am a happy girl.  I also added two nerdy countdowns on the left.  I love holidays people.  That just comes with the territory of me.  Poor Matt had to get used to this the first year we were dating, and we started dating at the beginning of holiday season ... it's a wonder he married me.  I love the holidays so much so that I start the Christmas music on October 1st and listen to it until New Year's when they take it off the air, by on air I mean on XM they have TWO Christmas channels, pretty much Heaven in my car, I literally make up excuses to go places.  "What sugar?  You need to go to the cleaners? (hate, by the way-only cause Matt takes his clothes to the cleaner in bulk, so picking it up is like carrying a 200 lb man to my car) SURE I'll go for you ... I may not be back for a few hours though ... I think there are detours that need to be taken ... several ... and road work ..."  And when they DO take it off the air (that dreaded day, oh the horror) Matt knows well enough to caudle me and tell me it's okay and there WILL, in fact, be another Christmas and more Christmas music in the coming years ... and then reminds me that I did get a full 3 months of it, which I promptly remind him was NOT enough and sink into my mini-depression for a day or two.

Speaking of the holidays it's about that time for me to have another Holiday Girl's Night!  That's right, you guessed it, for Thanksgiving!  I'll be sending out the Evite here pretty soon, the Halloween one was a BLAST so if you'd like to come, just shoot me your email so I can make sure I put you on the Evite!  This one will be a "potluck themed" one where everyone will bring a dish.  You know.  The way our fore fathers did?  With the Indians?  And Charlie Brown?  Anyways, I will be making some sort of "adult cidery type beverage" and some sort of dish.  And then we always play a form of White Elephant.  The Halloween one was Black Cat and I used to call the Thanksgiving one Pink Turkey, but it was brought to my attention that it doesn't ... so much ... sound ... the best ... eek!  SO I'm going to change it to Yellow Turkey.  That's sort of a fall-y-ish color right?  I usually try and do it on a Thursday night so if it goes late (which last time it went til 11pm!) then everyone only has one day of work to endure before the weekend hits.  Can't wait!  Bring on the Thanksgiving Girl's Night!

Here is a pic of the loot for the Black Cat game loot ...

And here is a pic of one of my Halloween-themed dishes!  A 3-Layer Spider Web Dip!

The Thanksgiving one should be just as fun!  Last year's was a great turnout, we had a fantastic time!

Last I need help from you girls.  We are going to Homecoming this weekend.  I have no cute Baylor shirt to wear (most are unacceptable w/ holes in them, mainly for sleeping-never-to-be-seen-by-anyone-than-my-husband's-eyes types of Baylor shirts, I mean seriously, it's a wonder I don't finish them off when I'm sleeping they're so flimsy) I really don't want to buy one ... Am I going to look like a total freshman if I wear a green cute top, yellow scarf boots and possibly leggings/jeans?  I don't want to over do it, do want to look cute, and don't want to spend money on a new t-shirt.  I'd rather spend it on a yellow scarf ;0)  Okay, feedback por favor.  Thanks, 'preciate it.

That's all for today - little less sarcastic, little more informative.  TTFN.

When Did I Get Old?

Apparently, the older I get the more cynical and opinionated I get.  For instance, over the summer I found myself looking at girls in their cut-off-up-to-their-hiney-cheeks short shorts thinking "WHAT is wrong with her parents?  Do they KNOW she's out like that?  Where is their shot gun?  If my daughter EVER comes out of her room looking like that so help me ... " and so on and so forth.  The same thoughts apply with the plunging necklines the kids (Lord help me, did I just say "the kids"?) are wearing these days.  Seriously, where are the parents?  And do I need to call them?  I'm getting to the point where I have the urge to walk up to one of these teenage hussies, ask her to call her parents JUST so I can let them know their child is walking around looking like a hooker.  The incident that brought this to my attention was last night, on my way to run, I looked over as I was driving only to realize there was some teenage kid, with rims on his car, music blaring, leaning half way out his window, driving about the same speed as me and trying to, what can only be described as, check me out.  First off, he looked about 12.  2nd, he was this skinny white kid who so desperately wanted to be a rapper, smoking Swisher Sweets and bobbing his head at me like he expected me to smirk and do it back.  So, what do I do?  Hit the breaks and put a stop to the cruising nonsense.  He then flies on ahead with his music blaring and I slowly continue driving while thinking "What the heck was his problem?  Why was that little houligan looking at me?  Ugh, KIDS!"  Now mind you, 10 years ago, I would have been THRILLED to have some boy checking me out in the car next to me, no matter how cute, dorky, thuggy or country the guy was.  But NOW my first thought is "Are you kidding me?  QUIT IT.  And pull up your pants while you're at it!" at which point I usually flash my wedding ring and think "I'm old enough to be your mom ... which isn't true.  I am officially 80.  The fact that I EVEN do it with pop stars such as Miley Cyrus (the see through shirt to her bra and pole dance at the VMAs, are you joking?  10 years olds are watching you, put on some clothes!) solidifies that I am, in fact, 80.  Does this mean when I'm 80 I'll act like I'm 140?  I sure hope not, I'd like to have some sort of mental clarity at that age.  That is, of course, assuming I have some right now, which, on a day to day basis, is questionable.  :0)

On a completely different tangent.  I just successfully succeeded (is that repetitive?  I think so) in opening an umbrella while IN my car.  Thank goodness it was parked.  My friend at work loaned me her umbrella when I went to lunch.  For whatever reason I don't own and/or really like umbrellas.  I'm like this with several things, I don't take medicine when I don't feel well (unless forced to by a doc's prescription) I don't wear warm enough clothes when I know it's super cold and I don't use umbrellas.  I'm a "tough it out, I'd rather not bother" type of girl.  But it was pouring and I didn't want ugly hair after going to lunch today, so I thought "What the heck."  After I got back, I parked my car, barely got the door open a bit, and, at the same time, hit the "eject the umbrella" button ... while still in the car ... and it did, in fact, eject.  It also smacked me in the face, hit my front window, threw part of itself in my purse and attacked my leather seat.  Thankfully it didn't scratch anything or leave any marks, besides the mark of embarassment it left on me.  Who opens their umbrella while still INSIDE their car?!?!?  Apparently I do.  Thank goodness no one saw it.  They were all running under their umbrellas, outside of their car.  Like they're supposed to be.

Okay, that's all the craziness I have for one day.  I have no fun pictures, but I will leave you a picture of what we will be doing this weekend ...

That's right friends.  We're going to homecoming.  I think for the first time in about 3 years and I'm excited.  We're staying at Brady and Kim Williams's house and cannot WAIT for the fun in store.  Have a Wonderful Wednesday blogging world.  See you tomorrow, no doubt.

Diamonds ... Er, Uh Plastic is a Girl's Best Friend?

Obviously I have no self control.  It looks as if I will be posting daily, minus the weekends, I usually try to stay as far away from the computer as possible on the weekends, unless it's via my iPhone.

So, just got back from a dentist appt.  We joined a new dentist.  I say joined because I feel like when you go to a new doc or dentist, it's like joining a gym.  They take all the information they possibly can from you when you come in, you usually have to pay more the first time because they take extra time with the first cleaning (i.e. joining fee) and you feel really uncomfortable and akward because someone is looking in your mouth which to me is just strange, much like the way you feel when you join the gym because they ask you all sorts of personal questions "What are your fitness goals?" (Answer: To actually get to the gym) "How much do you weigh?" (Answer:  Nunya.)  "What is your goal weight?" (Answer:  See that girl over there in only a sports bra and stretchy shorts flaunting herself at every man that passes her?  Go ask her how much she weighs.  SHE is my goal weight.)  Anyways, back to our new dentist membership.  Why is it that every time I go to the dentist they discover some unknown problem that I didn't have when I was there 6 months ago?  I mean, I didn't have FIVE cavities 6 months ago, and I KNOW (do I EVER know) that I don't eat sweets much at ALL, so where did said FIVE cavities come from?  I feel like I should have at least gotten to enjoy the reason you get cavities on the front end, but again, I know I haven't.  But man if I had, it would have been with candy corns.  I love me some candy corns ... and, I digress.  So anyways, what's the deal?  Thankfully as the hygenist is scraping the ever-loving life out of my gums, teeth and skull (at least it feels like it) I got to watch a movie with headphones (blocking out the fingernails-down-the-chalkboard-like noise those cleaning tools make along with the machine that detects cavaties that sounds like a cow in labor) on the TV that was on the ceiling.  Praise the Lord for technology.  So, 2 1/2 hours later I'm told I have FIVE (sorry, but I just must keep captializing that) cavities and need to come back in 6 weeks for ANOTHER torturing ... ahem, sorry I mean cleaning ... and to have 2 of the FIVE cavities filled.  I'm sorry, did you say 6 weeks?  Did you know that's the first week of December?  Yes?  Did you also know that I have 5,000 relatives and that December is the month that has that big holiday known as Christmas?  And did you know that December is the most expensive month EVER?  Yes?  Still 6 weeks?  Great.  Just making sure.  Looks like I will be getting cavities for Christmas.  Awesome.

But, in other, more fun news, please take a look at this FUN ring I got for $1.49.  Yes, you read that right, $1.49.  Maybe buying rings for $1.49 instead of $20 will help with the FIVE cavities we have to pay for ... sorry just had to jump back on that box of soap one more time ... So, SINCE the ring was SO cute and SO cheap I, of course, got 3.  One in teal, one in green and one in black.  So, I leave you with a picture of the teal one.  I mean after all, plastic IS a girl's best friend right?  A budgeting girl with FIVE cavities best friend for SURE!
